The beaches of Ischia
The island of Ischia has about 50 km of beaches (including inlets and bays) scattered a little bit along all municipalities. Each beach has a special beauty that distinguishes it from the others and makes it unique. There is a wide choice of coasts: for families, with fine sand and shallow waters for young people as the beach of Cava island, with great beaches and very therapeutic as Maronti Beach, romantic as the Saint Montano one, and finally others in which occur the thermal activity, creating pools of hot water, such as in the Bay of Sorgeto and Cartaromana.

Maronti
The Maronti Beach, is the largest island (about 3 km long) and is located in the municipality of Barano (and a small part in one of Serrara Fontana). It ‘s definitely Maronti one of the most beautiful parts of the West part of the island and Ischia can be reached by the scenic route that departs from the Testaccio or by sea with boat taxis departing from the port of Sant’Angelo.
The sand is grainy and not thin and this is very comfortable to swimmers because it does not stick to the skin. The sun at this point of the island has great intensity. The beach is characterized by the presence of enormous wealth spa in the basement.
There are in fact the ancient Baths of Cavascura, one of the first spa in Ischia, where there are many treatments. Also in Maronti, there is the phenomenon of “fumaroles” or jets of steam coming out of the underground at a very high temperature.
This beach is especially popular for sandblasting. Reachable by car (that you can leave in the surrounding parkings) or by bus, taxi, or by sea with the taxi boat.

San Montano beach
The beach of San Montano, is located in the bay with the same name, in the town of Lacco Ameno. It ‘s definitely a very romantic beach, where the sand is slight and the bed is very low.
It is located near the thermal park Negombo, one of the most beautiful on the island, as well as having numerous pools, it has also a concession on a big part of the beach. Tough in the bay there is the public beach, easily accessible. Is possible to practice water sports and there are parkings in the surroundings.

Beach of Cava
The beach of Cava island, is located in the municipality of Forio, not far from the bay of Citara and the Love Rocks. It ‘a beach completely free, attended exclusively by young people, especially that in the months of July and August, usually on this beach from 13p.m onwards.
It ‘s definitely a beach suitable for kids who want to have fun and play sports. There will also be music or beach parties. On this coast then, the sun sets late and there is almost always a fantastic sunset.

Citara Beach
In the Bay of Citara in Forio, this beach, well known and popular especially because it is located near the island’s largest spa park: The Poseidon Gardens.
The beach has a part completely free. Then there is a stretch that is included in the Poseidon, which can be accessed once you enter the spa park.
In summer, this beach is very popular, and there are parking facilities nearby, restaurants, bars and many hotels.

Chiaia beach
The beach of Chiaia, is located about 300 meters from the center of Forio. It’s very crowded especially during the months of July and August, but it is very suitable for families especially with children. On the beach, which is very large, there are various plants and plenty of bars and restaurants.

Beach of St. Francis
The beach of San Francesco is located in Forio (so we could say that is the municipality which has the largest number of beaches) in the bay of the same name (St. Francis) under the beautiful promontory of Punta Caruso.
In the area there are plenty of hotels, restaurants and bars. The sand is not very slight, and you can practice water sports. This beach is also very romantic, in fact, sunsets are very beautiful.
Beach suitable for children, but be careful, because in some places, the depth of the sea increases suddenly. Easily accessible from the center of Forio, by their own means or public transport.

Sorgeto bay
Who is on holiday in Ischia, absolutely must try the amazing experience of a swim in the bay of Sorgeto. In this part of the island the thermal activity occurs in the sea, creating hot tubs. So a real park outdoor spa! And ‘certainly a unique experience, a bath in the sea, but in boiling water …
In Sorgeto for this reason, it is possible to swim all year long! Infact, even in January or in the middle of winter, there are many islanders and tourists who immerse themselves in these miraculous waters.
The bay is located in the municipality of Forio and precisely not far from the village of Panza. By bus, you can get up to a certain point and then you will have to continue by foot. If you come by car or taxi, you will be dropped near the bay, where there are parkings.
You will have to go down about 200 stairs, but it is definitely worth it! The bay looks like the classic beaches, with sand, but there are only pebbles and rocks. Be very careful not to walk barefoot on the rocks because very often they are hot. And if you want to live a unique experience, we suggest, especially in the months of July and August, a bath at night in the bay.

The beaches of Ischia Porto
Ischia Porto is the main center of the island. Even in this town, there are numerous beaches present. We describe below the stretches of sand:

Lido Beach
Very crowded especially during the high season, it is right in the center of Lido Beach of Ischia and is very extensive. In fact, it extend from Lido till Ischia Ponte (the Fisherman’s Beach).
The beach is very slight, the seabed and quite low, so is very suitable for families and children. Easily join them, is very well equipped with various facilities, bars and restaurants.

Fisherman’s Beach
The Fisherman’s Beach is in Ischia Ponte start at the end of the beach of Lido to Ischia Ponte, in the place called in dialect “Mandra”, Pontano street.
The name came from fact that very often you can see the fishing boats of the fishermen. Beach is very conforteble with families.

Cartaromana Beach
In this bay, which is located in front of the Cartaromana Beach – Ischia Castello Aragonese and the rocks of St. Anne, has as Sorgeto, even if to a less power, the tanks of hot water into the sea.
The beach is accessible from San Michele or walking down the bay of Cartoromana, or from Ischia Ponte by taxi boat.
