ISCHIA INSOLITE AND SECRET 4TH STEP
A TOUR OF THE ISLAND INSOLITE AND ALTERNATIVE
BETWEEN THE HISTORIC BACKGROUND ROADS AND THE ANTIQUE STEERING AND PANORAMIC SENTIERS
4tH STAP (Forio – Serrara Fontana) “the mouth of Tifeo”
Step 8) Let’s resume our tour from the point of last time and precisely from the Monterone resort going up from Via Piellero. This morning I’m in the company of Mimmo who first offered me a great coffee in her paradise.
1 Rural landscape
The road climbs up the mountain and you notice the cultivated areas and areas of Mediterranean scrub, the terraces made of green tufa stone laid out, the “parachutes”, characterize the whole anthropic landscape.
Take the first road on the left to reach via Bocca, which at some point narrows and hangs with tall stone steps and becomes more and more leaning, we cross small wooded areas of holm oaks and stain until we reach a vast and rugged area Climbing, carved with figs of india.
The ground around it is dark red and we make an ultimate effort to reach, just below the ridge, a large boulder from which you can see white smoke coming out. A lush vegetation is the “mouth of Tifeo“.
Exhilarated by the sight we relax while enjoying the paradise landscape. 10)
Returning after a few minutes to reality we begin the descent to the intersection with Via Santa Maria to the mountain where we are waiting for Donatella and Franca, as soon as you arrive from Varese, with whom I have appointment to continue the excursion. An affectionate greeting and up the road leading to the famous peasant church. After a nice climb we cross the small rural village, take pictures and head over to the dense forest of Falanga, an intense green of chestnut trees with ferns of ferns.
Immersed and hidden in the vegetation you can notice several excavated boulders, ancient remains of troglodytic shelter, of the green tufo of the Epomeo.
The best known is that of “Percated Stone”, surrounded by holes excavated and always covered with stone walls. They are “snow dunes”, which were used by the natives to preserve the precious substance until the hottest seasons.
Step 9) We continue climbing via Falanga until we reach the wood of the Frassitielli (pseudoacaciae planted in the Fascist period from the work sites) and we stop at the belvedere to admire the beautiful panorama.
